UCF-40.5 vs New Hampshire (-112)
We start in Orlando where the Knights will take on the Wildcats from Durham in their home opener on Thursday night for the first time ever. UCF landed some studs in the portal on offense in KJ Jefferson and Peny Boone and are ready to pop off in the Big 12 this season. I expect them to come out fired up at home, looking to make a statement. On the flip side, UNH lost their veteran quarterback and star running back from the previous year. We don’t know who is going to be under center for the Wildcats and not to mention their defense was atrocious last year. My former roommates would always tell me to “fade UNH”. I think the talent disparity is really going to show in this matchup. Take UCF with confidence to cover this huge spread against a New Hampshire team that will be looking for their identity on the field.
Key Stats:
- UCF is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 Week 1 matchups
- Peny Boone was MAC Offensive Player of the Year last season
- UNH defense finished 102nd in yards allowed per play last season
Eastern Michigan ML vs UMass (+105)
So many games to choose from in Week 1 and I’m giving you a play between the Eastern Michigan Eagles and UMass Minutemen. Ah life sure is sweet isn’t it. We’re taking advantage because the oddsmakers have this game all wrong. It’s starting to correct with the line movement, but y’all need to jump on this plus money while you still can. EMU has dominated this matchup in recent years and I expect it to continue. Some may argue that it’s been getting closer and they luckily pulled it out last year but that was merely a fluke. The Eagles have reloaded with Buffalo transfer Cole Snyder at QB who was very solid last year and is familiar with this environment. They did lose a lot of veterans but got some transfers from Power 5 conferences that will adjust quickly. Coach Creighton’s squad loves to start out the season hot and will need this W to add to his bowl game bid collection. To UMass’ favor, they do return a lot of players and will be playing this at home but the UMass football fandem won’t scare Eastern and it sure as hell shouldn’t scare you. Take the Eagles to win this “upset” game.
Key Stats:
- Eastern Michigan is 3-0 against UMass in their last 3 matchups
- Eastern Michigan has won 7 of its last 8 season openers
- Cole Snyder had a passer rating of 119.3 against Wisconsin last season
