As much as conference realignment/NIL has strained the purity of the sport and tradition over the past three years (in some people's eyes), credit is deserved. Last weekend was one of the best days of college football I can remember. Every single part of the slate had drama, from South Carolina nearly pulling off the upset in T-Town (Pain.), to Penn State's comeback vs. new rival USC, and finishing it off with instant classics in UF/TENN, OSU/Oregon, and Ole Miss/LSU. This is one of the few instances in sports where lofty expectations were set, and not only met by the performances but exceeded. A few things coming out of the week that was, I still believe Ohio State is the best team in the country. I still think that Penn State is semi-fraudulent (see you in Madison in a couple of weeks, James Franklin), and I still believe Michael Myers Jeanty is a special talent that we should stay up a little later on Saturday nights to appreciate. This season is shaping up to have all of the mayhem and parity that transfer-portal believers were hoping for, and what a treat it is that we get a 12-team playoff into the mix too. Oh and by the way? We have a slate that rivals last week's on-deck. What a time to be alive. I hope you can all enjoy some suds and take it easy on Saturday, maybe even win some coin.
